Higher Secondary Education
In India, the higher secondary period is final two years of secondary education. The higher secondary education is just above the compulsory education in India and for upgrading in to this, a pass certificate is needed and named as secondary school leaving certificate, and thus the higher secondary schools are affiliated by central boards of education under HDR ministry, as a stage before one can pursue higher education, including college or professional courses. Those children who are seventeen years old by the same date are quite eligible to appear for Higher Secondary certificate board exams.
It further states that upon successful completion of Higher Secondary, one can apply to specialized higher education programmes under UGC-control such as Engineering, Medical science, and Business Administration.
